WILLIAM WARE ENDOWED CHAIR IN ORTHOGNATHIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY ESTABLISHED

William Ware Endowed Chair in Orthognathic and Reconstructive Surgery

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is pleased to announce the establishment of the William Ware Endowed Chair in Orthognathic and Reconstructive Surgery to honor William H. Ware, previous Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  Dr. Ware graduated from UCSF School of Dentistry in 1954 and completed the UCSF Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program in 1957.  Since then he has been continuously on the faculty, and is currently an Emeritus Professor within the department.  He was the Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 1976 to 1983, and was responsible for establishing orthognathic surgery and temporomandibular joint surgery on the West Coast of the United States.  In his honor a fund was established and donations were gratefully received from Dr. and Mrs. Ware, grateful patients, friends and ex-students and residents of Dr. Ware, and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program in general. This has enabled an appropriate sum to be raised to fund this Endowed Chair, which will be established in the very near future. The department is very grateful to everybody who has helped to make this happen.
